This Ugly Yet Beautiful World Review
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World is a show that will probably keep you watching; but in the end, will just leave you somewhat dissapointed. The story starts with Takeru, a “typical” lazy high school boy, wanting to do something more with his life. He then finds a beautiful girl in the woods, named Hikari, who he swears he will protect. Before I continue, this was one of the problems with this show. Every episode was the same “I have to protect you, so I can’t get close to you” crap. They could have made this much better if they would just let them develop an exciting relationship. Anyway, Takeru says he will always protect her. It turns out that Hikari has come to the planet earth to destroy all the species so there can be a rebirth among the living creatures. In the end, nothing really big happens and you feel like there were a lot of things that were not explained.
The animation quality was fantastic. It was one of the most well drawn shows I have seen in a while. This really shines with the fantastic backgrounds and water scenes. This earned it some points in my book since I like to look at something nice. The character models were pretty good to, but nothing to really go into detail about. There are some scenes with nudity, but it wasn’t as constant as some other shows.
Overall this was a decent show that didn’t live up to what it could have been. I give this a C rating because of the dissapointing ending, and the poor development of the relationship between Takeru and Hikari. If you like these type of shows, this will probably be one you will enjoy watching as well.
